A 20-year-old farmer has been convicted by the Choma Magistrate Court for defiling a 9-year-old school girl and has since been committed to the High Court for sentencing.

Magistrate Ethel Phiri found Oliver Sibuyu from Chiyabi farm guilty on one count of defilement on a child under the age of 16 contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that on 2nd June, 2023, Sibuyu had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim when he grabbed her as she was walking to school.

In passing judgment, Phiri noted that the State had proved its case beyond any reasonable doubt.
