MAN DIES IN SUSPECTED SUICIDE CASE

AS some Christians across the globe were cerebrating Easter Sunday symbolizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a 53-year-old Headman of Nakubwe village in Mungaila Chiefdom, Namwala District committed suicide.

The deceased identified as Melvin Shingwe is said to have hang himself to a tree using his shirt after a heavy drink of alcohol.

Confirming the incident following a Press Querry from Byta FM Zambia News, Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, said the incident is suspected to have occurred between Sunday and Monday from 22:00 hours to 05 hours.

Daka explained that Shingwe got drunk he started falling down, sustaining bruises on his way home and later on Monday, he was discovered dead by Cliff Chipapa of Shimomba village who was coming from Kasenga heading to Maala village.

He stated that Chipapa informed members of the nearby Village who quickly reported the matter to Police.

The remains of the deceased are Namwala Hospital Mortuary with no foul play suspected.
