What they found next was a faded chitenge material tied to a tree, just 30 meters away from the grim scene.

One of the neighbors recognized the chitenge material as belonging to her niece, Lydia Siachetema, who went missing on February 11, 2023.

The family had been tirelessly searching for her since that ominous day only to find her remains in that state

Police officers were alerted, and their investigation began and confirming the chitenge material matched the description recorded.
Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident.

“The remains of the deceased were taken to the University Teaching Hospitals mortuary awaiting postmortem.”

“Investigations to establish the actual cause of death are ongoing,” said Mwale.
