Citizens First (CF) Serenje Central Parliamentary Candidate Aubrey Mashawa is frustrated with the erratic water supply in Serenje.

Mashawa has since proposed that the Ng’answa River be used to supply treated water through the Lukanga Water Supply and Sanitation Company plant.

He explained that the river is a God-given resource which should be purified and piped to homes.

Mashawa observed that other towns are already moving to continuous water supply systems that waste less and use less power.

He noted that Serenje requires a new intake at Ng’answa, upgraded treatment capacity, pipelines, boosters, reservoirs, and reticulation to all six townships.

Mashawa advanced that his commitment once elected will be to lobby Lukanga Water, the Ministry of Water, and partners for a feasibility study.

He said that financing will be sought from Constituency Development Fund, government, and partners such as the African Development Bank.

Mashawa affirmed that underserved areas like Malcolm Moffat, Kambobe, Line Messenger, Zambia Compound, Low Density, and TAZARA will be prioritised first.

He emphasised that livelihoods must be protected by supporting market water points and cooperatives as water reaches homes.

Mashawa declared that carrying water should become history because God has already provided Serenje with the Ng’answa River.

He stressed that a government unable to provide water cannot ask for trust.

Mashawa pledged that with his leadership, water will no longer be a campaign promise but a pipe in every yard.
