Six mobile money agents have been swindled out of 48,000 Kwacha, in Lundazi district, Eastern province.

The agents were swindled by some two clients, who duped them into putting together some money, which they wanted to send to friends.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, LIMPO LIYWALII has confirmed, identifying the suspects as THOMAS MVULA and LAWRENCE PHIRI, all of Lundazi, who have been apprehended.

Mr LIYWALII has explained that the suspects had asked the 6 mobile money agents to raise about 60,000 Kwacha, but they only managed to raise 48,000 Kwacha.

The money was supposed to be deposited into the two suspects’ mobile money accounts, last Saturday.

He has added that the agents later discovered that the money had been withdrawn, before the transaction could be completed.
