A seven-year-old girl in Mpika District of Muchinga Province has allegedly been sexually abused by her stepfather, according to police.

The suspect, James Mulenga, 27, allegedly assaulted the child twice this month, when she was left alone at home.

The girl suffered severe injuries and bleeding as a result of the abuse.

She told her mother about the ordeal, who reported it to the local authorities.

Mr Mulenga admitted to his crimes and is currently in custody, awaiting trial.

The police chief of Muchinga Province, Paul Achiume, has confirmed the incident to Chete FM News.
