Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile says Government must stop playing games over the issue of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer – LGBTQ.

Mr. Mundubile who is also PF Presidential Candidate said focus must be focused on the Dollar which is at K20, fuel at K29, ZESCO Connection Fees from K750 to K14,000, no medicine in hospitals, giving fertilizer in medas, silently allowing cadres in markets, excessive bus fares and high cost of mealie meal.

The Lawmaker said the matter of LGBTQ was a serious concern which had been under discussion for a long time, especially that it was not only against the Zambian culture but national laws.

“What we have seen Government doing is jumping and diving over the LGBTQ matter,” he said.

Mr. Mundubile said Presidents of some Countries within the Region had come out clear, when talking about LGBTQ Rights.

“In Zambia’s case, we have not heard the Head of State come out convincingly clear so that Zambians remain with no doubt as to where he stands on LGBTQ,” he said.

The Lawmaker said what happened two weeks ago when members of the LGBTQ organization went marching and were marshaled by police, who later gave an excuse that they did not know that they escorted LGBTQ Activists, was unfortunate.

“Government is playing games with this serious matter,” he said.

The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament said it was also unfortunate that Zambia received sentiments from foreign countries that were in support of LGBTQ Rights.

Mr. Mundubile said Zambia remained a sovereign Nation, whose sovereignty must be respected.

He emphasized that the sentiments offended International Law that foreign entities should meddle in the internal affairs of the Republic of Zambia.

Mr. Mundubile said those that maybe promoting LGBTQ Rights were free to do so in their countries but that Zambia would not allow them to meddle in it’s internal affairs.
