Organized People’s Party – OPP Presidential Candidate, Eng. Dr. Brian Mushimba, accompanied by his wife, paid respects to the late former Acting President and Vice President, Dr. Guy Scott earlier today at the funeral gathering in Lusaka.
Dr. Mushimba described the late Dr. Scott as a leader who served Zambia with dignity and commitment during his long career in public office.
Speaking after signing the condolence book, Dr. Mushimba said Dr. Scott exemplified the true meaning of honor in public service.
“Dr. Guy Scott was a statesman who dedicated his life to the service of this nation. He served with wisdom, courage and a deep love for Zambia,” Dr. Mushimba said.
“His contribution to our democracy and governance will be remembered for generations to come.”
The OPP Leader said Dr. Scott’s tenure as Vice President and later as Acting President in 2014 was a defining moment in Zambia’s democratic history.
“To have led this country, even for a short time, and to have done so with integrity, is a legacy worth celebrating,” he added.
Dr. Mushimba extended condolences to the Scott family, friends, and the nation at large, praying for strength and comfort during the period of mourning.
“On behalf of the Organized People’s Party and my family, we send our deepest sympathies. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Dr. Mushimba stated.
Dr. Guy Scott served as Zambia’s 2nd Vice President from 2011 to 2014 and as Acting President following the passing of President Michael Sata in 2014.
