Ndola Man Arrested for Allegedly Murdering 3-Year-Old Girl in Jacaranda Villa

Police in Ndola District on the Copperbelt have arrested a 38-year-old man of Jacaranda Villa for allegedly murdering a three-year-old girl identified as Janet Mazimba.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Alimon Simukonda, is alleged to have attacked the child while on a drinking spree, shocking residents in the area.

Incident Happened Around 02:00 Hours

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred on Sunday at around 02:00 hours.

Mr. Yuyi told TV Yatu that the matter was reported to police by the child’s grandmother, Eveness Nakamba, aged 55.

Child Allegedly Hit to the Ground

It is alleged that the suspect was seen lifting the little Janet before violently hitting her to the ground for no apparent reason.

Police say the child sustained serious injuries and began bleeding from the nose and mouth.

Mr. Yuyi said the suspect allegedly assaulted the child without any reasonable cause.

“Eveness Nakamba, aged 55, reported that her granddaughter, Janet Mazimba, aged 3, was allegedly murdered by her uncle, Alimon Simukonda, aged 38,” Mr. Yuyi said.

Police Investigations Ongoing

Police have since taken the suspect into custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of the child.

The case has sparked outrage and sadness among members of the public, with many calling for justice for the young victim.
