Indeed, we are never truly ready for death. It has no regard for age or gender and always comes as an unpleasant surprise. Whether it is an infant or an elderly person who passes away, the shock is equally great.

This is in the case of Angela Mwape Mpundu, who passed away over the weekend during the match between the Zambian Super League champion Power Dynamos and the Tanzanian powerhouse Simba Sporting Club that ended in a 2-all draw at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Most people were devastated by her death, which came as a shock to them. She collapsed while going to the bathroom and was taken to Ndola Teaching Hospital, where she was immediately pronounced dead.

Many may not have had a personal encounter with Angela but nevertheless, she has left a footprint and a mark on many. As death ends a life, not a relationship. However, all tributes emphasised that Angela was a good person who got along well with everyone.

During church service at Saint Joseph Catholic of Ndola, her husband described Angela as her mother, a friend, and someone who cared for, loved, and smiled at everyone. He said he has no idea how he will survive without her.

“I will honestly work hard for the children and my lovely wife. I wish you well in your death.” Angela’s husband, Stanely Mwamba Mpundu, said this in the speech read by his relative.
She died at the age of 32, leaving two children, one of whom is an 11-month-old baby, and a husband.

Friends, especially from Mufulira, where she grew up, sent her off as she was buried at Kansenshi Cemetery, which was a difficult time for the grieving families.
