OYDC ZAMBIA LAUNCHES 2024 TEULINGS YOUTH SPORTS CHALLENGE

……as OYDC/NOCZ Board Member Jere urges athletes to show their skills during the sporting season.

The OYDC Zambia Saturday 17 February 2024 launched the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge which has seen an addition of Baseball5 as the new sports code added to the youth league.

The launch was graced by National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) Board Member Dickson Jere who is also a Member of the OYDC Zambia Board.

Jere in his remarks hinted at how much the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge supported by Coen Teulings Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium has benefited many athletes in Zambia who continue to get selected by several sports associations to national teams and clubs.

Jere appealed to Coen Teulings to continue funding the OYDC Zambia through the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge adding that his sponsorship has yielded positive results. He added that some of the athletes bound for the African Games slated for Accra, Ghana are a product of the OYDC Zambia.

OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala has disclosed that this year’s Teulings Youth Sports Challenge has seen Baseball 5 being added to the league. He says the centre is looking at adding more sports to the league so that athletes can continue to enjoy the games and see that they get the chance they deserve to be shortlisted in national teams and clubs.

Dr Fredrick further said management is in talks with Zambia Athletics to see that athletics is included before mid-year.

The launch was characterised by several sports demonstrations and cultural dances.

Among the people who attended the launch include; OYDC Zambia Board Chairperson Simangolwa Shakalima, Handball Association of Zambia president Victor Banda, Zambia Hockey Association General Secretary Elvis Bwalya, Zambia Baseball & Softball Association General Secretary Kenny Matishi and other invited guests.
