A collaborative effort involving officers from the Zambia Police Service, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and the Immigration Department successfully executed a joint operation in Lusaka’s Mtendere, Kalikiliki, and Bauleni compounds.

The operation, conducted between 17:00 hours and 22:00 hours, targeted people suspected of being involved in the recent spate of robberies and attacks within the compounds.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale discloses that 161 suspects, aged between 21 and 65, including 14 females, were apprehended during the operation.

Mwale says that DEC and Immigration officers are currently handling five suspects caught in possession of psychotropic substances and ten people suspected of being prohibited immigrants respectively.

He reveals that the remaining suspects are undergoing screening by Police Officers to identify potential involvement in other criminal activities and all the suspects are detained in safe custody waiting to be formally charged.
