February 18, 2024 – Police have launched a manhunt for a 53-year-old man identified as Laban Mukombelo who unlawfully wounded his wife in Mkushi District, Central Province.

According to a report received by Police in Mkushi on February 17, 2024 at 13:00 hours, Eunice Kabamba, aged 50, of Ilume compound in Mkushi, reported that she was beaten by her husband on February 15, 2024 around 14:00 hours.

She sustained cuts on her head, right side of the eye, right cheek and three shaking teeth.

An axe and fists are believed to have been used in the act.

Investigations revealed that following marital disputes which the couple has been having for some time, Kabamba decided to sue Mukombelo for divorce in the local court but upon being served with the summons, Mukombelo got angry, picked up an axe and started hitting his wife on her head, causing her to suffer serious injuries.

The victim was only rescued by some concerned neighbours who rushed her to the hospital where she was treated and later discharged after one day.

The suspect is currently on the run.
