POLICE in Lusaka have arrested Jane Gondwe aged 39 of old Kanyama compound for allegedly pouring boiling water on her 25-year-old niece identified as Gloria Mudenda.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale says the victim, who also sustained a cut on the right side of her head, alleged that she was also hit with different objects including a frying pan before boiling water was poured on her.

Mwale reveals that concerned members of the public intervened and rushed the victim who suffered severe burns on her back to Kanyama Level One Hospital where she is admitted in a stable condition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Gondwe sells Chickens and on February 17, 2024 it was Mudenda who was supposed to dress the chickens in readiness for selling but she gave an excuse that she was not feeling well.

Mwale discloses that this angered her aunt who reacted by pouring boiling water meant for tea on her before hitting her with different objects including a frying pan.

He reveals that they both live together at the same family house in Old Kanyama and the suspect is detained in Police custody waiting to be formally charged.
