Pali Papa Pool Club has announced it will host a Ladies Pool Tournament on September 5, 2026, as part of efforts to promote inclusivity and grow women’s participation in the sport in the community.
Club founder Albert Kakwende, alias “Papa” said the tournament will act as the opener for this season’s tournament calendar.
Papa explained that the initiative targets local girls from Chelston and surrounding areas.
“Pool comes with lots of benefits. It keeps young people busy and away from engaging in negative vices,” he said.
“We want to encourage more girls to pick up cues and be part of something positive,” he added.
Winners from first to third place will walk away with different cash prizes as a way of motivating participants.
Notable players expected to compete include Natasha, Chikondi, Alice, Esnart and Chisomo, among others.
Training for the tournament commenced last Friday and will run until the day of the event.
Papa has since appealed to individuals and companies to sponsor the tournament or individual players to make the event bigger.
Located at Chelston’s Small Market, Lusaka, Pali Papa Pool Club has become a popular recreation venue for young people in the area.
“With Pali Papa, it is ‘all smiles chabe’ as we make you forget about life’s challenges through socializing with like minds,” Papa added.
