POLICE in Monze have detained a Zambia National Service (ZNS) officer for allegedly stabbing a man with a bayonet who was trying to buy a bag of Eagle mealie meal at Hamusonde market.
Davis Bwalya is suspected to have stabbed Mwanakaambo Simwamba, 35, on his left arm after allegedly losing his cool while people were struggling to buy bags of mealie meal at the ZNS milling outlet in the market.
Southern Province police commanding officer Auxensio Daka said the incident happened on Friday when Bwalya was trying to control a crowd scrambling to buy bags of mealie meal from the ZNS milling outlet.
