SOUTHERN Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, has confirmed the arrest of suspected United Party for National Development-UPND cadre, Paul Chilufya, 28, for injuring several people at a pub in Monze.

Responding to a Press Querry from Byta FM’s Michael Nyumbu, Daka explained that Chilufya of Kabwata Site and Service in Lusaka has been apprehended for assault and malicious damage to property.

Among the damaged property is bar stools and beer, with the total of the damage yet to be ascertained.

Daka however stated that one of the two people who reported the matter has declined to pursue it for fear of victimization after he was threatened by the suspect.

Earlier, an informant told Byta FM Zambia News that around 23:00 hours on Thursday, the suspect went to Touchdown Pub and Grill and demanded to be given free bottles of beer on claims that his friend will come to settle the bill.

When Bar Sales Lady resisted the request, Paul is said to have become uncontrollable and began breaking bottles, some which he used to cut several people with.

The conveyer who was describing what he saw has stated that when the suspect became very violent, Security Personnel from the premises tried to apprehend him which but did not succeed.

By 10:00 AM Friday, Management and workers at the Public and Grill were still fearful to go to the location as the suspect was still around the premises.
