Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu has clarified that the recent recruitment of police officers was neither secretive nor illegal.
Mr. Mwiimbu acknowledged that the exercise has attracted mixed reactions from the public, with some labeling the process as secretive.
Delivering a Ministerial statement in Parliament, he explained that the Zambia Police Service was granted Treasury authority to recruit following a comprehensive human resource needs assessment, which identified critical staffing gaps.
He said the recruitment was aimed at strengthening public safety and improving operational effectiveness across the country.
The Minister noted that the exercise largely focused on internal recruitment, targeting qualified personnel already serving within police-related institutions.
