A scam has been Police unearthed where some unscrupulous people are manufacturing and supplying counterfeit fertilizer.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, notes that Officers received a tip off from a concerned individual that there were people who were seen supplying suspected counterfeit fertilizer at a named Agro Shop along Freedom Way in Lusaka.

Mwale says Police Officers moved in and conducted an operation in which 60 by 50 kilogrammes bags of Compound D Fertilizer suspected to be counterfeit were recovered and one suspect arrested at a named Agro shop.

He says after interrogations, the suspect led Police Officers to SOS area where 250 by 50 kilogrammes bags of Compound D fertilizer were recovered from a proprietor of a named fertilizer company who was also arrested.

Mwale states that samples of the fertilizer have been submitted to Mount Makulu Research Center for analysis.
