Njobvu said he had high expectations that bringing youths into Parliament would deepen progressive democracy and drive strategic development through fresh ideas and innovation.

“I honestly thought bringing youths into Parliament would take us forward, progressive democracy, strategic development, fresh ideas. I even thought our next Minister of Science and Technology would come from them,” Njobvu said.
He said he expected the youth MPs to champion grant ideas, innovation and technology.
Njobvu said he was disappointed after hearing some PR MPs chanting pro-third term slogans such as “Kumulu Lesa and pansi wamuyaya.”
“Then I heard third term, ‘Kumulu Lesa and pansi wamuyaya’ and I just said, Oh my God. We have wasted taxpayers’ money again,” he said.
The outspoken opposition leader has since questioned whether the youth quota in Parliament has delivered the expected change.
“Be honest — did youth MPs bring the change you expected, or have they disappointed you?” Njobvu asked.
