President Hakainde Hichilema says he will not depart from the developmental promises and pledges he made before elections.

And the head of state says he is not a master, but a servant of the people

Speaking when he addressed Lufwanyama residents, President Hichilema who is on the tour of Copperbelt Province, said he will ensure that people’s lives are transformed through selfless leadership.

He said indigenous Lufwanyama residents will therefore be given opportunities to venture into various industries, such as agriculture, mining and commerce.

He said mining companies are unfortunately not employing local people , but assured that the mining firms will be engaged to see how the locals can be prioritized interms of employment creation.

He said government will ensure local people are given mining licences in order for them to be able to own mines, and contribute to national develoment.

The president however warned people against selling of mining licences,adding that doing so, defeats government’s vision of promoting local mining ownership.

And speaking at the same event, UPND National Chairperson for women, Ms. Doreen Mwamba encouraged Lufwanyanama women to work hard and continue being a positive influence on society.

She said she is happy with women of Lufwanyama, for being hardworking and productive instead of having a dependency syndrome.

Ms. Mwamba encouraged them to desist from societal vices that will derail their focus of achieving their personal and community goals.
