THE tight-knit community of Luanshya is in mourning today following the sudden death of Bianca Chipo Kafata, a newly recruited nurse from the 2023 graduating intake of Registered Nurses from Roan School of Nursing.

Kafata’s passing has sent left her family, friends, and colleagues in tears, as she succumbed to a sudden headache early this morning.

The news of her death comes just a few days after the nation celebrated the dedication and hard work of nurses following Nurse’s Week and Nurse Day on May 12.

Kafata, who was recently engaged and preparing for marriage, had been posted at Chibolya Clinic following her recruitment among the 4,500 health workers late last year.

Bianca was born into a family of three and lived with her single mother on Buteko Avenue.

Her death was confirmed by a close friend who recounted the tragic events of the day.

Today, Bianca reported for work as usual, cheerful and full of life. However, after returning home, she suddenly collapsed and died on the spot.

Her last WhatsApp status, posted at 7:26 hours read, “Take over Jesus Christ, I can’t do it on my own,” a haunting reminder of her final moments.

“Bianca was my classmate,” a close friend shared. “Today, she just suddenly fell down and became unconscious. Efforts to resuscitate her failed until she was declared dead.”

Friends and colleagues have described Bianca as a jovial, friendly, kind-hearted, and down-to-earth person who always shared a laugh with everyone.

Her sudden death is not only untimely but undeserving, as the circumstances surrounding her demise remain uncertain.
