Suspected Patriotic Front members have destroyed the Lubansenshi bridge to prevent UPND officials from exiting the campaign centre in Lubansenshi in Northern Province.

The wooden bridge which links Kapanda ward of Lukashya Constituency in Kasama district and Lukutu ward of Lubansenshi of Luwingu district was destroyed just before the UPND camp finished their campaigns, leaving UPND National women’s Chairperson, Ms Doreen Mwamba and other officials worriedly stranded.

After several efforts to look for tree branches from the nearby bush to make the bridge partially passable, the cars finally risked to pass after half an hour.

And speaking to journalists to react to the unfortunate incident, Ms Mwamba expressed disappointment and described the incident as barbaric and unfortunate.
She is disappointed that the PF can stoop so low to destroy a bridge for the very people they expect to vote for them.

“This is not a bridge for the UPND, but a bridge for the same people the PF are asking for votes from and a bridge which residents use” she said.

She said the incident has once again exposed the PF’s barbaric behaviour which the Zambians rejected by voting them out of power.

She said the forner rulling party has resorted to such inhuman behaviour because they have sensed defeat in Thursday’s by-election.
“PF will never change, its a violent party, its a reckless party, its a useless party”.

They want to test our patience and if that is what they want to do, they will get it” Ms Mwamba said.

She said what is disappointing is that the incident comes after the political parties held an incident free and peaceful church service earlier today.

Efforts to get a comment from any PF official proved futile, as numbers were unreachable.
