A 19-year-old man from Chandamali Compound in Choma has died after he was allegedly beaten for proposing love to another man’s girlfriend.

Osten Mwale, between Monday and Tuesday around 16:00 hours and 03:00 hours complained of headache and general body pains as fists are alleged to have been used in the act.

On Monday late afternoon, the deceased went on a drinking spree in the company of his friend, and on their way home, he approached a girl with the view of proposing love to her.

However, the girl felt offended and reported the deceased to an unknown man suspected to be her boyfriend who beat the victim severely before he was rescued by some people.

The deceased managed to return home and was discovered d£ad around 03:00 hours by his elder brother after complaining of body pains and headaches.

According to Byta FM, Southern Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka who confirmed the incident said the body of the deceased has been deposited at Choma General Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem while a manhunt has been launched for the culprit.
