Podcast platform “That Zed Podcast” has cancelled the airing of an episode featuring former Zambia Security Intelligence Service Director General and Liberal Party leader Xavier Chungu.
In a statement shared on its Facebook page, the podcast said the episode would no longer air as earlier advertised, citing circumstances beyond its control.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, the podcast episode with the former Director General of the Zambia Security Intelligence Service, Mr Xavier Chungu, will not be broadcast at all as earlier advertised,” the statement read.
Producers had earlier hinted that the interview would cover several controversial topics, including the alleged ZamTrop account, claims of tunnels at State House and how Chungu became a spy.
The episode was also expected to discuss what allegedly led former President Frederick Chiluba to seek a third term, behind-the-scenes details of the 1997 Captain Solo coup attempt, and Chungu’s claims of surviving an alleged poisoning while in prison.
The cancellation has since sparked reactions online, with many followers expressing disappointment.
