Munali aspiring UPND Member of Parliament Thomas Sipalo has defended his decision to join the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), saying Zambia is making significant developmental progress under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.

In a strongly worded statement shared online, Sipalo stated that while he made rapid progress as an independent figure, joining UPND has allowed him to contribute to what he described as a collective national development agenda.

“We are on course. Vision and logic beat assumptions. HH has a vision for Zambia and he must finish his mandate,” Sipalo said.

The outspoken Munali aspiring lawmaker stressed that development can only be achieved when citizens and political leaders move away from petty differences and focus on the bigger picture for the country.

“Development prevails when we overcome petty differences and look at a bigger picture for mother Zambia,” he stated.

Sipalo further noted that sustainable national progress requires citizens to set aside selective politics and unite behind developmental goals regardless of political opinions.

“One president leads the nation at a time, and regardless of individual opinions, the country is moving in the right direction,” he added.

The Munali politician explained that his affiliation with UPND was influenced by what he believes is the party’s commitment to development and improving the future of Zambia.

According to Sipalo, President Hichilema is successfully pushing forward major developmental agendas aimed at transforming the country.

“My affiliation with UPND is driven by the administration’s commitment to development and the promise of a better future,” he said.

Sipalo also called on residents and supporters who share his vision for Munali Constituency’s development to join him in supporting progress and unity.

“Together, we can build an inclusive constituency where development will supersede politics,” he stated.

The statement has since generated mixed reactions online, with supporters praising his focus on development while others continue debating political alignments ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Thomas Sipalo, popularly known by some supporters as the “Komboni President,” has continued positioning himself as a strong voice for development-focused politics in Munali Constituency.
