THREE PATIENTS ARRIVE IN INDIA FOR KIDNEY TRANSPLANT TO BE CARRIED BY ZAMBIAN DOCTORS

The Zambian Mission yesterday morning received some patients from Zambia who have been sponsored by the Zambian Government on Medical Tourism.

Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to India Mrs. Deliwe Mumbi welcomed the team in transit to Hyderabad and wished them well ahead of their respective treatment .

Ms. Mumbi said the Mission was happy that efforts through the Office of the Counsellor ( Health) had yielded positive results.

The patients, who are in India for kidney transplant, are accompanied by their donors and a team of six doctors which consists a renal physician, kidney specialist, urologist, anaesthetist, critical care consultant, and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse.

She said the team will be in India for two weeks, fully funded by the Zambian Government adding that the purpose is for the Zambian doctors to conduct kidney transplant under supervision of the team from KIMS hospital as part of skills transfer and capacity building for Zambia.

And speaking on behalf of the team, one of the patients, Charity Mambwe, said she was grateful to Government for sponsoring their treatment. She further thanked the Mission for receiving them well and making them feel at home away from home.

“On behalf of everyone here, I would like to thank you for your hospitality. You brought us here and fed us and you made us feel home away from home. May God bless you,” Ms. Mambwe said.
