A 38-year-old polygamous man of Namwala with three wives is nursing gun-shot wounds after being attacked by a yet to be identified person while on his way from one of his spouses to the other.

Elder brother to the victim reported to Macha Police Post under Choma that Clement Hamukuwa was shot on 4th March, 2024, around 22:00 hours in Mucila Chiefdom.

He sustained four bullet wounds on the left thigh and another wound on the left hand, with a Shotgun suspected to have been used in the act.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, explains that around 08:00 hours on the material day, the victim left home and went to his shop in the same village.

Daka says when he went back home around 22:00 hours and gave the money to his Senior Wife, Mercy Machila for that day sales, he proceeded to his second wife within the same village.

He notes that an unknown person shot at him just as he was about to enter the Second Wife’s house.

Daka states that acting on the report, Police Officers followed up the victim who was already in admission at Macha Mission Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

He says a Docket has been opened, while arrest and recovery of the gun is yet made to be made, with the motive of the shooting also not known.

Daka nevertheless notes that some information obtained indicates that the victim has a lot of enemies due to his adultery allegations.
