The ruling UPND in Kafue through its Vice Youth Chairman, Griven Sikaale has threatened to physically deal with Investigative Journalist Oswald Sichone for exposing secret recruitment of workers at Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia.
Sikaale through a phone call threatened Sichone that he and the UPND youths will physical harm him if he continues to uneveil the secret recruitment of workers at NCZ.
This move comes after Sichone’s investigative report uncovered a covert operation where UPND-affiliated youths were being employed at NCZ without the positions being publicly advertised.
Sikaale vowed to mobilize UPND youths to confront Sichone, adding that he would feel the full force of their anger if he did not cease his investigative efforts.
However, in a defiant stance, Sichone refused to cower in the face of intimidation.
“What I can tell you my brother is that you can’t scare me or I’m not and I will never ever get scared for as long as I know I’m doing the right thing. I have been speaking for the people of Kafue about NCZ since the MMD era when I was writing for the Post Newspaper, I continued during PF and now during the New Dawn Administration. I don’t harbor any personal hatred for NCZ management or UPND but what I want to see is a fair and transparent way of recruitment ” Sichone boldly told Sikaale.
Sichone reminded Sikaale that even PF youths tried to physically harm him the entire 10 years they were in power but failed.
“In 2019 I exposed a scam were 6 trucks of fertilizer unexplainably went missing at NCZ and the PF youths felt I was embarrassing the ruling party, so the decided to physically harm me but it ended in tears for them. So you, Sikaale and your youths want to take the same route, that’s not a problem but what I can advise you is never to hunt something you can’t kill”
Sichone further told Sikaale that he has been speaking for NCZ workers when no one not even their elected leaders did so.
“When NCZ workers were going for 9 months without pay I came out strongly and condemned the PF government and NCZ Management for failing to pay the workers. When PF Government gave NCZ to produce 10 tonnes of fertilizer I spoke against it because I knew NCZ has capacity to produce even. One thing I can tell you my brother is to never get excited with these positions because you won’t be a ruling party youth chairman. If I fail to protect my self from you and your youths, God will surely not fail.
