In a common but silent incident of gender-based violence (GBV) against men, a woman of Sinazongwe allegedly battered her husband with a stone and fists, leaving him with a gashed forehead and painful private part.

Royd Chola, 36, of Sinazeze Township, reported his wife, Memory Kalaba, for alleged assault at Sinazongwe Police Station in the early hours of last Friday.

Southern Province police commanding officer Auxensio Daka said the assault happened around 01:30 hours on Friday.

“Royd Chola reported that he was allegedly assaulted by his wife, Memory Kalaba, and he sustained a cut on the forehead, painful private part and general body pains.

“It is suspected that a stone and fists were used in the act,” Mr Daka said. He, however, said the woman was not arrested because the couple later reconciled.

“Suspect in the assault case involving Mr Chola has not been arrested. Mr Chola was issued a medical report on the material day and decided not to go to hospital for treatment,” Mr Daka said.

Meanwhile, in Zimba, a 29-year-old woman is admitted to Zimba Mission Hospital nursing injuries inflicted on her by her husband, Francis Kakomo, 37. Mr Daka said police arrested Kakomo on Friday for alleged assault.
