We are having nightmares everyday to ensure that nobody goes hungry – Hichilema

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says everyone charged with the responsibility of feeding the country must be having nightmares everyday.

President Hichilema stated that every leader must ask themselves everyday what they are doing to ensure that no one goes hungry asserting that those who neglect this duty are unfit for office.

Speaking at the China – Zambia High Quality Forum in Lusaka today, the Head of State encouraged the nation to stay positive as Government tries to resolve the challenges that the country is grappling with.

The President articulated his personal agenda to more than double the size of Zambia’s economy.

He outlined key areas of focus, including debt restructuring and strategic project management, as significant to achieving this ambitious goal.

President Hichilema said the country was messed up by the previous regime and that the cleaning process is harder than the messing up.

“We have inherited problems, I ask Zambians to stand together to resolve our challenges. We have a plan to resolve our problems and China is helping us,” stated Hichilema.

“One of my personal agendas has always been to more than double the size of the country’s economy. I know where the instruments to development are, they sit in debt restructuring, they sit in Mopani and other projects. Be positive. You cannot afford something if you are not positive.”

President Hichilema stated that Government is working on pushing for more investments to come in the country to improve economic and social development.

“We want to see more investment coming into our country, more partners, more projects, more transactions,” he noted.

The President also urged ambassadors sent to other countries to focus on looking for opportunities for their home country stating that an ambassador job is not to be a tourist or holiday thing.

Today, Zambia and China has signed a transaction of over a billion dollars to enhance economic development in different sectors.
