Zambia Athletics has announced that national athlete Kennedy Luchembe has departed for Djibouti to compete in an international athletics meet scheduled for April 17, 2026.
According to an internal memo issued by Zambia Athletics, Luchembe’s participation in the event is part of a broader high-performance preparation programme aimed at sharpening his competitive edge ahead of the upcoming Senior African Championships. The meet is expected to provide valuable exposure against international competitors while allowing the athlete to fine-tune his form.
Beyond preparation, the competition carries additional significance, as it offers Luchembe a chance to achieve qualifying standards for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games. This makes the event a critical milestone in his season, with both national pride and personal progression at stake.
