Much like the song by the late PK Chishala where he illustrates the betrayal of a man who went to an extent of trying to seduce his best friends wife in the song “Nali no Munandi,”

A 34-year-old man of Lufwanyama has proved the illustration right after being caught red handed trying to sexually abuse his best friends wife.

Innocent Hanombe, who cannot be described as ‘Innocent’ as his name is alleged to have creeped into his best friends house while he was at work and tried to sexually abuse his wife.

Mortified to the realisation that the man in her bed was not her husband because of the smell of beer which her own husband does not take, the victim who laid naked in bed opened her eyes, only to realise that the man touching her was her husband’s best friend and she screamed.

Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba who confirmed the incident said Hanombe has since been arrested and charged with indecent assault as well as criminal trespass.

He said that the incident occurred on Monday around 22:00 hours while the victim’s husband was away working at his tarven.

“Brief facts are that the complainant was sleeping in her house on her bed on Monday April 3rd, 2023 at around 22:00 hours. Her husband, was out at his tavern where he sells beer. She left the door unlocked as she was expecting her husband to go back home. Later, she just felt a hand touching her naked body after removing the blanket she had covered herself with,” he said.

Mr Mweemba explained that initially, the victim thought it was her husband, but when the suspect moved closer, she realized that he was smelling beer, which her husband does not drink.

“She opened her eyes and turned to look at the person only to discover it was not her husband who had been touching her in their bedroom ,but his best friend , Innocent Hanombe. She shouted for help, and her sister-in-law heard and rushed to her house with other family members,” he said.

Mr Mweemba said the suspect was apprehended within the house and the matter was reported to Lufwanyama Police Station.
