Zambian researcher says pork could affect brain

RESEARCH has revealed that consuming under-roasted pork can lead to people acquiring epilepsy.

University of Zambia (UNZA) senior lecturer and researcher in the school of veterinary medicine Chummy Sikasunge says research conducted in Eastern, Southern and Western provinces showed up to 10 percent prevalence of the pork tapeworm infection in people.

A pilot project for control measures has been conducted.

In 2016, scientists and researchers from Germany, Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia began a study on taenia solium (pork tapeworm), which normally infects humans and pigs and is transmitted.
