Zambia’s 9,500 GCE results nullified

The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) has nullified close to 9,500 examination results for General Certificate of Education as a result of malpractices by candidates.

In addition, the council has reported 24 teachers suspected to have been involved in the 2022 Grade 12 GCE and Grade 9 external examinations malpractices to the Ministry of Education for disciplinary action.
Out of the 67 whole centre cases, 11 schools have had their GCE examination centre status suspended for two years as they were involved in multiple malpractices.

ECZ director Michael Chilala said at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday that 385 individual school cases and 69 whole centre examination malpractice cases were reported.

“Out of the reported cases, 334 individual and 67 whole centres had their results nullified.
