ZESCO REINSTATING 8 HOUR LOADSHEDDING

ZESCO Limited is reinstating an 8-hour load shedding schedule in Lusaka effective tomorrow.

ZESCO Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi says the move is aimed at enhancing stability and predictability in power management across Lusaka.

Maumbi has told Byta FM Zambia in a statement that the decision follows challenges identified with the previous schedule were load shedding was staggered for hours twice a day.

He has further stated that the Corporation is committed to refining its approach to better serve customers.

Maumbi adds that the utility company will continuously monitor and refine the load shedding program to achieve an optimal balance between meeting customers’ needs and managing power resources efficiently.

He has also appealed to customers to use energy-efficient models for appliances like refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines so as to reduce electricity consumption.

Maumbi notes that such small adjustments can significantly reduce overall unit usage and ease the strain on the national power grid during load shedding.
