DRIVER BÉATS, POINTS GUN AT STUDENT

POLICE in Lusaka have apprehended Million Banda, 46, employed as a Driver at Rocks Student Apartment for the assault of a 26-year old student at Lusaka Health Institute in Silverest.

Particulars of the matter are that on February 20, 2024, around 23:00 hours at Rocks Student Apartment, Margret Banda, a Student sought to retrieve a gate key from Banda.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, reveals that the encounter took a violent turn as Banda began verbally abusing and physically assaulting the student.

Hamoonga further discloses that the situation escalated when Banda reportedly pointed an unknown firearm at the student threatening her safety.

He says following the harrowing experience, the student decided to report the incident to Chelston Police Station.

Hamoonga says police initiated an investigation into the matter and successfully apprehended Million Banda who was in possession of firearm silver in color, along with 6 rounds of ammunition.

Police has since urged the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of violence.
