A TAXI driver of Chingola has been robbed of his vehicle after consuming food and drink offered by his passenger.

The food is believed to have been laced with a toxic substance which left him unconscious.

Pascal Kabunda, 27, of Maiteneke Township, was robbed of a Toyota Allion registration BCE 4671.

Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Mwala Yuyi said Mr Kabunda was operating from town centre when he was booked by a man who asked to be driven to a guest house in Chiwempala Township.

Mr Kabunda drove the suspect to the guest house around 18:30 hours on Thursday, where the suspect got out and left the victim in the car.

“The suspect returned to the car and offered the victim a bottle of water, a Fruiticana drink and Hungry Lion food, which he consumed, after which he started feeling dizzy and fell asleep,” he said.

When Mr Kabunda gained consciousness after some time, he found himself at the back seat of the car with the suspect driving the car in the company of another man.

The suspect threatened to kill Mr Kabunda and later dumped him in town.
