THIEF STARTS SELLING AT PALACE AFTER STEALING MPEZENI’S CAR
In what could be termed as a state of confusion and not knowing what to do with stolen property, a thief who broke into Paramount Chief Mpezeni to steal a car last Thursday failed to leave the palace and was apprehended by palace guards.
A thief broke the world record after taking advantage of the N’cwala traditional ceremony to steal a vehicle belonging to Chief Mpezeni as part of his fleet of German-made vehicles at his Ephendukeni palace.
The thief has however not died from any lightening strikes nor has he mysteriously fallen pregnant but is in police detention, Zed Gossip has read in a publication by the Zambia Daily Mail.
Eastern Province police commanding officer Davis Simwanza confirmed that the suspect is in police custody to help with investigations in the theft of a chief’s motor vehicle.
“This person was trying to steal a motor vehicle on Thursday after the procession at Ephendukeni palace, but people were alert and that is how he was apprehended” Mr Simwanza said in a publication seen by Zed Gossip.
Mr Simwanza could not give more details on the matter for fear of jeopardizing ongoing investigations.
But impeccable sources at Chipata Central Police told the Daily Mail that the suspect is facing other theft charges.
They say the suspect was found with some items suspected to have been stolen from ZESCO installations.
According to data, instead of driving off with the stolen vehicle belonging to Inkosi yama Nkosi, the thief started selling stolen ZESCO cables at the same palace to the chief’s workers before he was nabbed.
It is possible the thief failed to find his way outside the palace premises and thought he was now in Katondo selling his sampos only to realize his was going round the same spot, Zed Gossip reports.
