ZAMBIAN comedians have united in grief with plans to put up a comedy show in honour of the late comedian Brighton Sinkala who died in tragic road traffic accident on Sunday morning.

While the family and the SDA church are making arrangements for the burial of Sinkala’s remains which arrived in Lusaka from Kabwe yesterday, Zambia Association of Comedian are also in arms to remember ‘the Halaand of comedy’.

The association president Cheelo Mwanachingwala in an interview with #Kalemba said the event will coincide with a date of burial which is yet to be communicated.

And Mwanachingwala said the association was looking for another alternative venue for the event as he believes the Lusaka Play House which usually accommodates artists’ memorial sendoff events would be too small.

He added that comedians also want to honor Sinkala by dedicating the comedy show which is slated for this monthend.

Meanwhile, Mwanachingwala disclosed that a fund mobilisation venture has been instituted in order to help out the family in covering the cost of the funeral and other logistics.

Mwanachingwala further called on those that would come through in rendering financial support to contribute via a short code made available through a partnership with Cellu Land, catering for all networks to make the payment easy and for the purpose of accountability.
“You can make your contribution by dialing *265*12114*amount#,” he stated.

Mwanachingwala said the loss of Sinkala was a huge blow to the entertainment industry and the country at large.

He said one of things he would miss about Sinkala apart from comedy was his love for food but more so, the emphasis he gave on the importance of investment.

“Beyond the comedy part he was a mentor who groomed a lot of young talents both on and off stage,” Mwanachingwala added.
