Former Chibombo Council Chair Chilufya Kachingwe alias Ba Napsa has thanked residents of Chibombo for their support during his four years of mobilization and confirmed he will not contest the 2026 general election on the UPND ticket.

In a statement, Kachingwe said he was grateful to the people of Chibombo for the love and support shown to him during his time as council chair.

He also thanked the UPND for giving him the opportunity to carry the party’s name during mobilization.

“Our journey in the 2026 general election ends here as I have not been given a chance and opportunity to contest on the UPND ticket,” he said.

Despite missing out on adoption, Kachingwe pledged to support the party and help it retain power in the August election, aiming for the 5 million votes requested by President Hakainde Hichilema.

“This has been a school on its own. It being my first attempt and winning the hearts and lives of the people of Chibombo, making my name a household name in Chibombo and Zambia at large makes me a winner already,” he said.

He said leadership was not only about holding a position but about being available when needed, and promised full support to the people of Chibombo in every way possible.

Kachingwe added that he would continue to carry the name “CHIBOMBO1” as a symbol of his identity as a patriotic son of the soil.

“I believe that my journey into politics has just begun and I can only promise the people of Chibombo and Zambia that I am coming back stronger and stronger, and maybe going higher than what I was chasing after this year,” he said.

For now, he said, he would “lick his wounds” and urged his supporters to back the party in the election, noting that not everyone could be on the ballot.

He also congratulated the adopted candidate and wished them well in the campaign and election.

In the entertainment circles, Chilufya is famously known as Ba Napsa.
