THE Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC has arrested and charged a court bailiff in Choma for corrupt practices involving K7,000.

Tobias Samalala, 47, of Humba Area has been charged with one count of Abuse of Authority of Office contrary to Section 21(1)(b) as read with section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

ACC Head-Corporate Communications, Timothy Moono, explains that between 1st November 2018 and 31st December 2019, Samalala, did abuse the authority of his Office by demanding and receiving K7,000 from a named person who had been sued in courts.

Moono says the amount was over and above the prescribed bailiff fees of K800.

Samalala has been released on bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
