A magistrate heard how a student, who is accused of swindling people out of over K60,000, was expelled from the University of Lusaka (UNILUS) after it was discovered that he dishonestly enrolled into the university.
The school expelled John Nediwe, 21, of Lusaka’s Kanyama village, after it was discovered that he used a fake identity to enrol into the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
While his real name is John Nediwe, the youth enrolled as Andrew Mwansa, allegedly using a forged national registration card.
Nediwe is appearing in court for allegedly forging his school credentials to enrol at the university.
He is also accused of soliciting over K60,000 from parents and students by promising to secure them 100 percent bursaries and scholarships abroad.
He has been appearing before Lusaka senior resident magistrate Trevor Kasanda charged with 11 counts of forgery, obtaining registration by false pretences, uttering false documents and obtaining money by false pretences.
The court heard during trial from UNILUS deputy registrar Mwansa Chanda that during the material time, he was approached by officers from Drug Enforcement Commission’s anti-money laundering investigations unit.
The investigations wanted to enquire about a student, Andrew Mwansa.
