FARMER JAILED 15 YRS FOR RAPING SISTER-IN-LAW

A peasant farmer of Masaiti has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for raping his sister-in-law after the two shared some alcoholic drinks together.

Patson Yabe, of Mokoko village, raped the sister-in-law on June 14 last year.

On the material day, the sister-in-law was coming from Nyenyezi market around 20:00 hours where she had gone to buy assorted goods when she met her brother-in-law with his cousin, Kennedy Musonda.

Later, the two men and the sister-in-law stopped over at a shop to have some drinks, which Yabe bought.

They sat out to drink and afterwards Mr Musonda suggested that it was getting late and asked Yabe to accompany his sister-in-law home while he went his way.

It was heard that when Yabe and the victim were walking along the road, he suddenly kicked her on her left leg and when she fell on the roadside, he dragged her into the drainage, where he proceeded to rape her.
