A 36-year-old woman of Nkwazi, Ndola, has died after being run over by a goods train, which cut her body into several parts.

Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said the incident occurred on Sunday around 20:00 hours on Sakania Railway near Chipulukusu and Nkwazi in Ndola.

Her brother, Derrick Chileshe, 48, reported to police that his sister, Musanshi Chileshe, was run over by a goods train No. 154, locomotive No. 01-704. Mr Mweemba said her husband, Maybin Mubanga, last saw her on Sunday around 14:00 hours.

“Unknown sources mentioned that she was with an unknown male person along the mentioned railway around 20:00 hours when the incident occurred,” he said.

“The male person, whose identity is yet to be established, sustained unknown injuries, and was taken to the hospital by well-wishers.”

The family got to know of her death on Monday around 07:00 hours after word spread in the community about the incident.
