Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mulambo Haimbe, has set a new pace for the Ministry, demanding efficiency over bureaucracy as Government moves to implement the Grow Zambia agenda.
Addressing top management and senior staff in Lusaka this morning, Haimbe said his first task upon re-appointment is to realign the Ministry with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of turning economic growth into jobs and improved livelihoods.
This was Haimbe’s first management meeting since his re-appointment following the dissolution of Parliament.
The Minister challenged officers to find smarter ways of working and ensure that government processes do not delay service delivery.

“Charter House must be known for results. Our work is to open Zambia to the world and bring the world to Zambia – but that will only happen if we are efficient,” Haimbe said.
He urged the two Permanent Secretaries and directors to internalize the Grow Zambia Agenda and work closely with other line ministries, saying foreign policy cannot operate in isolation.
Haimbe commended management for keeping the Ministry fully functional during the transition period, noting that Zambia’s international engagements had continued uninterrupted.
Since January, the Minister has received Letters of Credence from five new Ambassadors at Charter House, received the Honorary Consul of Bangladesh to explore collaboration in textiles and agriculture, and is driving economic diplomacy that recently delivered the first visit by a Japanese Foreign Minister in 42 years.
The meeting, attended by Permanent Secretaries, Directors and heads of department, set the tone for a more transactional, trade-driven diplomacy where every foreign engagement must deliver investment and value for Zambians.
