Growing up with a phone was once a big deal. Back in the day, it was rare to see a child walking around with their own phone. If a young person had one, chances were they came from a well-to-do family.

Phones were mostly for adults. And when a child was seen holding one, they had probably borrowed it to play games, listen to the radio or simply enjoy a few minutes of screen time.

But for Abana Vision, his childhood experience was a little different.

During his appearance on the Kenny T 1 on 1 podcast, Abana Vision opened up about growing up as a business-minded young person and revealed that he was able to buy himself things that most children could only dream of including a car and a phone.

While having these things at a young age may sound like a dream, Abana Vision says they eventually had an unexpected effect on his attitude towards education.

He explained that he started losing motivation to go to school because, in his eyes, some of the teachers encouraging him to work hard did not have the things he had already managed to acquire.

According to Abana Vision, his teachers would sometimes ask to borrow his phone just to play the popular Snake game. On other occasions, they would borrow money from him, promising to pay him back later something he says often did not happen.

For a young Abana Vision, this created a confusing picture. He was being told to study hard, get an education and work towards having a comfortable life in the future. Yet, the adults giving him that advice appeared, from his perspective, to be struggling to achieve the very things they were encouraging him to work towards.

That experience, he says, made him question the value of pursuing his education.

Abana Vision shared more about his childhood, business mindset and journey during the candid conversation.
