Zambian music icon and aspiring politician Mulaza Kaira, popularly known as Macky 2, has officially announced that he will stand as an independent candidate for the Nchanga Constituency parliamentary seat, distancing himself from political party adoption despite receiving invitations from different political camps.
In a powerful message shared on social media, Macky 2 revealed that while several parties have already handed out adoption certificates and others have approached him to join their teams, he has made what he called a “conscious choice” to contest as an independent.
“And while certificates of adoption have been handed out by different political camps and some have even invited me to join their teams, ine I have made a conscious choice.. I will stand as independent,” Macky 2 stated.
“My Loyalty Lies With the People of Nchanga”
The artiste-turned-politician emphasized that his decision is not meant to undermine teamwork or political systems, but rather to ensure that his leadership remains firmly tied to the people of Nchanga instead of party interests.
He said his loyalty will not be controlled by party structures, but will be driven by the needs of ordinary citizens in the constituency.
“This decision is not against teamwork… But at this critical moment, ine my loyalty lies not with party symbols or structures. It lies with the people of Nchanga,” he wrote.
Macky 2’s Vision: Service, Development and Self-Reliance
Macky 2 also hinted that his campaign will focus on building a self-sustaining and self-reliant Nchanga, stating that his political mission has never been about party flags, but about practical development that directly improves people’s lives.
According to him, Nchanga must rise through determination, unity, and purposeful leadership that prioritizes service over politics of convenience.
He highlighted key issues he intends to stand for, including access to clean water, job creation for youths, empowerment of small-scale miners, and improving livelihoods for families across the constituency.
“It is about every mother praying for clean water. Every youth searching for dignity in work. Every small scale miner (jerabo) that needs support. Every family dreaming of a better tomorrow,” he said.
Macky 2 to Endorse a Presidential Candidate Later
Although he will contest as an independent, Macky 2 revealed that at the right time, he will endorse a presidential candidate who shares his vision of transforming Nchanga into a prosperous and opportunity-driven constituency.
“We will, at the right time, endorse umo presidential candidate.. someone who shares our vision of a self-sustaining, self-reliant Nchanga,” he stated.
“This Is the Politics of Service”
In his closing remarks, Macky 2 called for the end of politics driven by selfish interests, division, and party loyalty that ignores the suffering of ordinary citizens.
He described his political journey as a mission rooted in service, declaring that he remains unshaken in his commitment to Nchanga.
“Nchanga must rise.. not by dependence, but by determination. Not by division, but by a united purpose… This is the politics of service,” Macky 2 wrote.
Macky 2’s announcement has sparked major debate across Zambia, with many supporters praising his bold independent stance while others remain curious about which presidential candidate he will eventually endorse.
As the 2026 general elections draw closer, Macky 2’s political move is expected to be one of the most watched developments in Copperbelt politics, especially in Chingola’s Nchanga Constituency, where his popularity and influence remain strong.
