In a remarkable display of medical expertise and teamwork, Maina Soko Medical Centre recently achieved a significant milestone by successfully performing a complex brain operation.

The operation, which took place on June 9, 2023, lasted an arduous seven (7) hours and was conducted by a team of highly skilled professionals.

The collaborative efforts of the medical staff at Maina Soko Medical Centre ensured a successful outcome for Ms Likoji Mihova, a 29-year-old female patient.

The intricate brain surgery was carried out by an exceptional team of medical professionals that included team leader, Dr Godiwala Tossif, a renowned Consultant in Neurology, Senior Colonel (Dr) Wang Su Chao, a skilled Neurosurgeon from the 29th Chinese Medical Team, Colonel (Dr) Greenwell Kunda (Rtd), and Lt Col (Dr) Masauso Tonga, an experienced Anesthesiologist.

Supporting the primary team were Dr Pythays Bwalya, an Assistant Doctor, Maj ( Dr)Kaunda Lwiimba, another Anesthesiologist, Mr Sichula was the scrub nurse, Mwiche sinkala, a runner, and Mr Smith Chanda, a potter.

The dedication and commitment of the medical team was instrumental in providing a conducive environment for the surgery and Ms Mihova’s subsequent recovery.

The brain operation, which commenced at 08:00 hrs and concluded at 16:10 hrs required immense concentration and precision from the surgical team.

Thanks to the expertise and tireless efforts of the medical team, Ms Likoji Mihova showed steady signs of recovery following the surgery.

Her remarkable progress and positive response to the treatment paved way for her discharge from the hospital on June 15,2023.
