Matero Constituency aspiring Member of Parliament Alexander Mumba Sakala has reassured residents that he will remain committed to serving the people of Matero despite growing discussions about the possible division of the constituency into a new area believed to be Lilanda Constituency.

In a strongly worded message addressed directly to the people of Matero, Sakala said he has noted increased public conversations surrounding constituency boundary changes, but emphasized that his commitment to the community will not be shaken by any political or administrative adjustments.

“Ba Matero, my people… listen. I’m seeing a lot of talk going around about dividing Matero Constituency into another side like Lilanda Constituency,” Sakala said.

“I Will Not Leave You,” Sakala Tells Matero Residents

Sakala stated that some residents are worried that if constituency boundaries change, development programs and support systems already underway might be disrupted.

However, he dismissed those fears and insisted that his relationship with the people of Matero is not dependent on constituency borders.

“I will not leave you. I will not change on you. I will not forget you,” he said.

He stressed that whether residents remain under Matero Constituency or fall under the proposed new constituency, they will still remain part of the same community family.

“Whether you are on this side or the other side… you are still my people,” he said.

Development Programs to Continue Despite Boundary Changes

Alexander Mumba Sakala further highlighted that several initiatives have already started in Matero, including empowerment, mobilization and community development programs.

He emphasized that such initiatives will not stop because of boundary changes on the map.

“We have already started something together… programs, empowerment, development, mobilization… That doesn’t stop because of a line on a map,” Sakala said.

He added that his focus remains on delivering tangible results and ensuring that residents continue benefiting from ongoing community progress.

Push for UPND Victory and Development Continuity

Sakala also reaffirmed his support for President Hakainde Hichilema, stating that unity among Matero residents is key to ensuring the UPND remains in power in 2026.

“Until we make sure that President Hakainde Hichilema is back in office in 2026 and development continues in our communities,” he said.

He described the Matero movement as one built on people and unity, not political boundaries.

“A movement is not divided by boundaries. A movement is united by people. And me and you — we are one,” Sakala declared.

Calls for Support

Sakala ended his message by encouraging residents who support his vision to show solidarity and commitment.

“If you’re with me, comment: M1. Let’s keep moving — action, not noise,” he said.

The remarks come at a time when constituency delimitation remains a major national issue, with many communities closely monitoring how changes may affect political representation and development planning.
